every armchair music critic should make an idiot out of themselves once

I’m about to do it now.

The thing is. I happen to believe that in the hypothetical event of Herr Kürsch ever deciding to go full-blown opera, he’d most likely be a Wagnerian tenor.

Of course, it’s just a hunch – because you can’t really assess potential operatic voice listening to something which is, well, not operatic.

But my ears are fairly sure that operatic baritones sound very, very differently.

Having said this all, I’ll leave you with a few recordings. Go and do Blackie Lawless’ favourite thing. Think for yourself, that is.

…and yup, I believe that historically, Hansi Kürsch is the same to Teutonic sympho/power/whatever metal as Lauritz Melchior was to Wagnerian opera. Why not Klaus Meine? Well, Herr Meine is the wrong Fach =D

    1. And yet, people all over the web believe he’s a something they call ‘high baritone’… I don’t know whether they all copy this from The Range Place or if it’s TRP that went with the flow, but it’s been bugging me real bad lately, youtube comments and all. Baritone my [AYEM].
